Snell House

HOUSEMASTER  -  MR SEAN DAVY

Assistant Housemaster  -  Mr Tongai Songore

Head of House  -  Takunda Makiwa

HISTORY

Snell House was named after Fred Snell and being the only single story House opened in 1984.   The first Housemaster was Mr Andrew Hall (an old boy of Paget House).

STRUCTURE
Snell House has had several developments in recent years such as the Common Room with lounge suite, DVD player, surround sound, wall to wall carpeting and display boards.  An unused room was renovated to create a kitchen that now has a microwave, two-plate stove, toaster, snackwich-maker and coffeemaker.  The old laundry room was emptied to create a new games room.  A pool table was donated as well as a dartboard.  The table tennis table was also put in the new room.
The unused volleyball court was removed and goal post set up to create a new soccer pitch and a new pizza oven was built next to the braai area.

HOUSEMASTER
Sean Davy has been Housemaster of Snell House since January 2019.  He grew up in Chiredzi and went to Peterhouse as a young boy.  After Peterhouse he received an ATS Chisz Bursary to study teaching at Rhodes University.  It was there he met Alanna and was married a year after he graduated and started his teaching career in Harare.  He taught at Eaglesvale, Gateway and after doing a year of teaching a home-schooling curriculum went to South Africa where he taught in various schools, finishing up at a small Christian School in East London called Abbotsford where he was one of the deputies.

He then felt that it was time to move back to Zimbabwe, and returned to teach English at Peterhouse at the start of 2017 moving back with his wife and three daughters.  Alanna is a music teacher, and their three daughters are all enrolled at Peterhouse Girl's School.  Abigail is going in to Vth Form, Deborah is going into B-Block and Anna is starting off in D-Block.

Sean coaches rowing in the summer and rugby in the winter and enjoys reading and playing various musical instruments – his favourite being the bagpipes.
