RIFA Educational Trip 2019

Vth Form Biology & Geography Pupils and Learner Guides

27 pupils and three staff went on the RIFA trip during the last week of Trinity term.
The Zambezi valley is very dry this year which meant there was a constant stream of animals to the waterhole in front of camp.

Activities included a vulture watch, Impala dissection, map work and rivers, aquatic ecology, fish dissection, biltong making and target practice.
The day would start with a pre breakfast walk with worksheets being handed in and marked before the final debrief - our top pupils were Chido Madera, Madeleine Norton and Seamus Ratcliff.

The Learner Guides joined the activities assisting with the dissection. They also went on a long walk with the Professional Guides/Hunters and spent extra time on bird identification.
The highlight for most was the canoe trip down river with the two support boats – this was a magical experience, such a privilege to experience the Zambezi River at its best.
With thanks to the academic staff, volunteer hunters and RIFA staff who made this trip possible.
