Head of House  -  Brandon Rouse

The House has 57 boys, broken down as follows: 6th Form - 10, 5th Form - 10 in each group, A – 11, B – 12 and C – 14. The complete refurbishment of the house in 2015 has brought a new dimension to the school. There are two common rooms. The senior common room has a 46 inch flat screen colour TV, carpeted and modern lounge suite. The junior common room is equally carpeted, with a 50 inch flat screen colour TV and a pool table. Both common rooms have Wi-Fi. The boys use these facilities for their relaxation mainly during the weekends. A kitchenette is situated in each common room, equipped with a fridge, microwave and a hot and cold water dispenser for teas and coffee.

Paget House was opened in 1956 as House 2 and was given its current name in the third term of that year.
It was named after Edward Paget, Bishop of Southern Rhodesia who in September 1951 wrote to the Rector of Michaelhouse in Natal, offering him a headship of a school that did not exist.  The first Housemaster of Paget was Mr Charles Fisher.

Prior to his appointment at Peterhouse, Edson spent several years in Public and Private Schools both in and out of the country. He has worked at Luanshya School for Continuing Education (Zambia) as Head of Department for Secretarial and Administrative Studies; Fletcher and Chaplin High Schools in Gweru where he was a Housemaster and Commercial Studies teacher; Eaglesvale School in Harare; and Watershed College in Marondera where he was teacher of Business Studies and Accounting, Housemaster, Deputy Head and Director of Agriculture. Currently, he teaches A’ level Business and IGCSE Accounting, Housemaster of Paget House, tutor, teacher in charge of hockey, Gavel club and coaches golf. Edson was a national examiner with ZIMSEC for many years. He is renowned for a trail of excellent results.

Edson is an accredited FIH coach and the master in charge of hockey at Peterhouse Boys School, where he coaches the 1st team. He has several years of experience in coaching hockey (ranging from 1992 to date) at school, provincial and national levels and has travelled to the USA on several occasions to attend some of the biggest hockey festivals, where players would be scouted for university. He has organised many successful hockey tours, regionally and internationally, including the most recent and fruitful 2018 tour to Netherlands. Edson also sits on the panel of hockey selectors at provincial and national levels. For 5 years he coached the Peterhouse Girls 1st hockey team bringing home the prestigious Golden Girls trophy on two occasions, for the first time ever since the tournament was established. In the other three years the team finished in the top four.

In addition to that, Edson coaches golf. He is the man behind the organisation of tours to Thailand and Sun City as well as taking boys to inter-schools tournaments. He is very keen to develop the sport in young players. Just to show his passion for golf, Edson took the reins of chairman of the local Marondera Golf Club in 2017. He is at the centre of organising the annual charity golf fund raiser run by the Rotary Club of Marondera in conjunction with Peterhouse Group of Schools. He is a Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Marondrera and has been projects coordinator for quite some time. His philanthropic zeal doesn’t end there as he is a member of Nomads, another charitable golf entity which raises money for charity. He also coached basketball at U16, 1St Team and provincial levels for many years.

Edson is married to Tendai, former Senior Mistress at Watershed College who taught there for nineteen years. She retired at the end of 2017 after teaching for thirty years. She is now Matron in Paget House, where she compliments her husband in running the house. They have seven children, four of them married, with 5 grandchildren.
