Nyanga Fly Fishing Weekend March 2019

Twelve pupils, girls and boys, had a great weekend in Nyanga fly fishing in the National Parks waters. We based our activities around Rhodes Dam and the rivers nearby and between the pupils eight fish were caught.

Saturday was blustery and deteriorated into a gusty drizzle – but we still visited the trout hatchers and fished Mare Dam successfully.

Boats were hired which makes casting much easier for beginners but still a fair number of flies were lost. Sunday was the most beautiful morning with clear skies and only a light wind – perfect weather to be outdoors fishing – pupils also had fun swimming in the Nyangombe Pools and tried their luck at fishing in the river.

Thanks to Mr Fourie who came to help with coaching and Mrs Glover who assisted on the camp – a good time had by all and we have some very enthusiastic new fly fishermen.
